This end cap has been missing on my 2001 Ford Excursion 7.3L Limited 4X4 for years. And it always bugged the ever living poop out of me. I have been looking for a replacement piece on my occasional trips to the salvage yards for the last couple of years but never could find one. So when I found this one online, I was pretty ecstatic.
Amazon's automatic fitment guide warned me it would not work but the product listing notes said it would. For $7 I was willing to take a chance (not to mention Amazon's return policy is pretty solid). The part arrived, and bam. It snapped right on and fits like a glove. NO MORE DRIVING ANNOYANCES!
Be careful. I take responsibility for not looking at mine before ordering. Amazon says this one, and others like it fit up to a 2005 f-250/350. It does not fit mine. Mine has the bigger button that sits more flush with the cap. This one looks just like the one on my 2003. Other than that good packaging looked like a quality piece just not for my 05.
Very happy with the product. Its Amazon I hate dealing with. I pay for Prime and I'm not treated any better than a Ebay customer. Might as well shop at ebay they are cheaper and have free shipping on almost everything. Amazon needs to step up its prime game. At this point we wont be renewing it.
You let someone borrow your pickup and next thing you know, they return it with no gas, spilled juice in the back, a flat tire, and this cap missing from your gear shift. Found this after a quick search and have had it on for a couple of days now. Seems to fit snug and hopefully won't be popping off anytime soon. Recommended.
OEM ring fell off the shift lever and disappeared years ago. Didn't feel like replacing the whole shift lever just for that. this popped on in two seconds and now the shift lever looks like it did when I first bought the truck. Installed on a 1997 Ford F150.

Could not be happier. This was a perfect fit for a 1999 F150 pickup.
QUALITY
Smooth install. Looks as if it was original and off the assembly line.
The package was an oversized bubble envelope which kept the plastic ring safe and hard to loose in the mail. The ring itself is a snug fit and replaces a previous unit that would come loose occasionally when shifting gears. I have a 1997 Ford F-150 4X4 with automatic transmission shifter on the steering column.
Snaps in instantly, just double check that you orient the tabs correctly before slamming it home. Perfection.
