Overall, it’s a good product (this review might seem otherwise, but it truly is a good product). It’s not 100% metal, which has its pros and cons. The pros: doesn’t weigh a lot so there’s no added stress on the gear shift, universal fit so even though my cars shifter is not threaded the katana still fit with the right rubber adapter and screws that come with this item. Since it’s light weight, I feel the transitions from park to reverse to drive etc is flawless. The install of this product was very easy. Cons: the katana does not slide down very far on the gear shift so the handle does sit pretty high (blocks the A/C and part of the touch screen while the vehicle is in park, see attached picture) and it’s not 100% metal so I’m sure wear and tear will be slightly quicker over time. The handle is plastic and the bottom plate of the katana is loose and slides right off. While the car is in drive, I have had several accidental tiptronic/manumatic triggers. This happens because the handle is long and since it doesn’t sit down far enough, you can easily bump the gear shift to the side, causing the tiptronic/manumatic system to initiate, throwing the vehicle into a manual gear. The size of the handle is perfect, as you can put approximately a hand and a half on the handle (if you were holding it as a sword). I just wish the handle could slide down about 2-3 inches lower, then it would be perfect. The screws on the handle do show and stick out a tad, but that’s not a issue for me. The color of the bottom plate is a strong bronze color, while the metal plate on the handle has a more chrome color (slightly bronze), then the bottom is a true chrome color (the metal that connects to the gear shift rod). I would like all the metal parts to be consistent in color, but each piece is a different color. I plan on doing some work to the handle in order to get the whole katana to sit further down and to have a better look. Good concept product, just needed a bit more work to have a overall better product. I recommend this item, but keep the cons I listed in mind. This does fit my 2013 Dodge Charger R/T (non threaded gear shift).
This little shifter was my favorite thing in my 1988 Samurai that I am rebuilding, but after two years of use, it has broken. The two welds on the side snapped while driving, which was kinda scary. Sadly, I don't think I would buy another one to replace it.
It fits my miata mazda mx5, and does not look to big/overbearing. Alot of other people notice it in my car and would compliment it. The color is really nice bold, but if it is expose to the sun too long it will fade. So you need to cover it or have it park in the garage often to keep it nice and bright. The top is loose, but this is not the biggest issue. The installation is very easy and straightforward.

Cons:
- it’s super long so it’s pretty invasive; hard to reach around the shifter to reach other dashboard stuff
- totally stripped the shift lever. it’s installed by screwing in 6 screws into a silicon piece that wraps around the shifter and the screws totally went straight through the silicon protective sleeve and stripped the shifter beyond belief. can’t use any other shift knobs anymore and i’m honestly super pissed about this. needs to be a disclaimer or a better solution for the product.
if you’re never planning on ever selling your car, planning to use one shift knob forever, or willing to replace the entire shifter because it gets stripped, then this might be worth it. now long term i might have to replace the entire shifter with a part that probably isn’t made anymore with an aftermarket short shifter which is a huge hassle for such a trivial situation. not worth.
To start off, this looks amazing! I mean a katana handle as a shifter?! Yes please. The stock shifter (round ball) felt odd every time I upshifted or downshifted and sometimes it would come off and that irritated me cuz I’d have to use a second or two to place it on again. With this having several hexagonal screws keeping it in place, I won’t have that issue. As depicted above, I have my hand place at a comfortable position to which I normally would drive, the second photo is my hand at the base, just to show how much handle is left above if you were to place your hand there. Not to mention, it’s easier for me to push with my thumb and pull with my index to shift, with the stock shifter it felt awkward but functional grabbing the round shifter. If your thinking about grabbing this to up the look of your car, then with out a doubt buy it. The package came with the handle itself, an Allen wrench to tighten the hexagonal screws and 4 adapters depending on the thickness of your shifter’s rod. I personally didn’t use the adapters as my mini cooper’s rod was thick to the point that I didn’t need them. Easy installation, just pop in the adapter that fits if you need it, on to the rod and tighten the screws, bam your done! Amazing product, my friends think it’s really cool.

+Looks very good in both quality and aesthetic
+Handle material feels very sturdy but not unpleasant or rough
+Handguard is metal
-Handguard metal piece is not the best to rest hand while gripping
+The metal top piece and handguard have extra engraving flourish for extra detail
-The extra set of 3 screw holes add a lot of extra bare silver metal at the bottom if not hidden by shifter section. Personally not a huge issue for me
+Fairly easy to install. I had an issue with the hex allen wrench not being the correct size to fit the screws but rectified by using different size of my own (imperial vs metric issue)
+Inexpensive

Overall, given the price and quality I would give it a 4.5 but that extra half star is for the customer service
Bought this to put in the drift car, and I must say it actually held up pretty good! Super easy to install ( it’s a true universal which is pretty sweet) and looks great.
Would definitely reccomend! Only think, it’s a bit tall so i happened to hit it while reaching my ebrake which was not fun lol but for a daily i would definitely get it
