This part did not come with any instructions and I did not know that the clip was not included. I did find the one that I had previously that fell between the the sit. I was not able to get the clip all the way in.
I purchased 2 for different year model cars. One of them in my daily winter driver. It has a soft spot directly above the shifter shaft which bubbled up. I shaved it off so as not to have the bump annoying me. I haven't seen the other car since I installed the shifter, so I'm not sure if it did the same thing.
Worked perfectly for my 97 Malibu. Previously bought a cheaper universal one and that was garbage! This is good as new
No issues, fits properly, push button works, easy install if you know how to remove the clip holding the shift lever.
